Days with my Father...

Phillip Toledano has created the most moving and emotional series of images, about the last few years he shared together with his father. I love the way he has combined the images with words, and stories of his fathers life, people who have influenced his thoughts and just a lot of happy memories and sometimes painful ones too, to go with stunning raw images. I really relate to these photographs, and I think they speak to anyone who has gone through losing loved ones, and dealing with the harder times in a light hearted way. On his site, Toledano thanks viewers for their support and kind emails and to me that sums up the heart of this work, to touch people enough to actually want them to share their experiences through your photographs is something very special.

starting to get that christmas feeling...

had a bit of mulled wine last night with my housemates, and a few too many mince pies, and I have started getting that christmas feeling. Anyone who knows me well, will know that I love this time of year, it comes with the name I think. But I have to say, the forest is looking especially striking this year compared to most, I could not resist taking a few christmas card snaps.  these were taken on my little 35 mm canon SLR

A Beautifully shot Video...

Not only is this a real and moving documentary, but the photographical direction is breath taking, the close ups and the colour, fits beautifully and i guess the fact its about a dog won me over even more. brace yourself to watch this because everything about it is executed to perfection ...

also i recommend going to PhosPictures for more raw documentaries, i love their work, its made me start to think that maybe one day i would love to make some documentaries like this and i hope that they can be even just half as beautiful as these.

New Forest Walks

I have been living in Bournemouth now for over a year, and yet have only recently discovered the beauty of The New Forest. I often take my camera for walks now around Lyndhurst and Beaulieu Road, capturing the wildlife and natural beauty around the area. I plan to make a series of New Forest images, including some studies on the Horses and Deer found roaming freely around the land.

The First Entry

My first entry has to be about my favorite photographer and Author of 'Grass Doe' Jonathan Levitt.

His beautiful combination of natural portraiture and everyday life really captures my attention, and I really believe in his images. He captures Ambient light perfectly, and contrasts dark shadows with softer compositions in a unique way that makes anything look angelic.
'Wake to songbirds wake to crows' Is a stunning series of documentary images and I really recommend taking a look at his website.
